ReadAloudKit is for a specific planning job: you need three Grade 1–2 read-aloud sessions for next week, and you do not want to rebuild the questions, activity sequence, and teacher notes from scratch.
It is an independent planning site. The videos stay on the official Storyline Online website. ReadAloudKit organizes verified book information and original teaching materials around those videos.
1. Find a book
Open the book finder. Filter by grade, theme, or video length. Each published book record includes the official viewing link, author, reader, runtime, suggested grade range, source, and the date the information was checked.
If the catalog does not contain a suitable result, change a filter rather than treating an invented recommendation as a match. The first library is intentionally small while sources and lesson materials are reviewed.
2. Check the book page before planning
A book page separates three things:
- facts verified from the official source;
- ReadAloudKit's grade and teaching notes;
- the current editorial status of associated activities.
Use Watch on official site when you are ready to play the story. ReadAloudKit does not copy or rehost the official video.
3. Build the three-session week
Open the weekly planner, select Grade 1 or Grade 2, choose a theme, and set the approximate time available for each session. The preview shows three distinct lesson focuses.
The current public model uses this progression:
- notice facts and first impressions;
- track how a character's thinking changes;
- connect the story to a concrete friendship action.
This is a sequence, not the same worksheet repeated three times.
4. Save before signing in
You can save one free draft in your current browser without creating an account. When you later sign in, the site keeps the draft and offers to move it into your private cloud workspace.
Browser drafts stay on that device. Account plans are stored privately in ReadAloudKit's database so they can be opened again after signing in on another session.
5. Use the lesson materials
Open the complete sample lesson before deciding whether the delivery format works for you. Check the objective, preparation time, read-before prompt, pause points, discussion questions, student task, support and extension paths, teacher reference, and low-ink printable.
The sample is a teacher-test candidate, not a claim that a classroom teacher has already approved it. Paid checkout remains closed while classroom testing is incomplete.
6. Reuse the work
Signed-in Teacher and Pro workspaces are designed to keep the useful planning work:
- duplicate an existing week;
- print a saved plan;
- record a book as taught;
- reopen the three session details;
- use an editable export with Pro access.
What ReadAloudKit does not do
It does not manage students, replace your district curriculum, guarantee a lesson will fit every class, or automatically generate a plan for any title. Teacher judgment remains necessary, especially for student needs, local standards, and content sensitivity.
